Learning and building quickly together to win

 

Formula-E is competition hosted by the Graduate Industrial Design Program at Art Center College of Design focused on teaching lessons in strategy, product development, engineering, design fabrication, branding and event planning. In the competition, teams build elastic run vehicles with advanced materials that speeds up to 25mph and develop partnerships with local non-profit organizations. In 2017, over 18 teams from the US and China participated in the race and partners like Walt Disney, Xiaomi and Hot Wheels sponsored the competition. CHALLENGE

Design and engineer a rubber band run vehicle to race on 3 different tracks (Figure 8, drag, and climb).

OUTCOME

RC controlled elastic-band powered vehicle / partnership with Side Street Projects (Non-profit organization) / Branding and Swags

IMPACT

2017 Art Center Formula-E Competition Best in Show Winner / Invited as guest speakers in Beijing Technology University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Tianjin University / Donated $1,500 to a non-profit Side Street Projects
